A LOT of it is more about pace and timing and keeping focused and calm than actually knowing the content. Most of the problems are not difficult, but a lot are designed to make you sit and figure them out and waste time.

The SAT isn't an F1 race, it's a Dakar Rally.

Likewise, the essay (which you should take) is critically important in terms of handwriting, length and argument, but not so much in terms of grammar and competence. You should fill out the whole length with a sound argument, even if portions of it aren't perfect. It's because grading on the essay is to a very tight rubric and they honestly don't have time to worry about the little things.

I think I got a 2240 or so when I took it for the first time (where I am, all they had was the ACT, had to go out of state for the SAT), and that was after taking the ACT twice. The tests are very, very similar, but I'd say the SAT is more efficient time-wise and better suited for more scientific approaches to learning. If you're more of a holistic test taker, the ACT might be better for you.

ok. It's kinda used to timed essays from my APUSH class, so it shouldn't be that bad. And I've gotten my speed reading and analytical skills much better.

My first time I took the SAT, I also took one of my friend's Adderall's for the first time.

I got pulled over on the way to the SAT because I thought I was going to be late.

I got out of the ticket, and made it to the SAT on time.

I did okay.

It's hard to believe this was 5 years ago...

Don't sweat it - it's not that bad and a fair amount of school don't even look at them anymore.

I think I was the last year before the essay section was mandatory so I can only say good luck because I have no advice to give other than carefully read the questions and skip the ones you don't know. Answer the ones you do know and then go back to the ones you don't.

Point of reference for my strategy: I got a 1320 back when it was out of 1600
